Ronald T. “Ron” Hopkins, Jr.

Ronald T. “Ron” Hopkins, Jr., age 69, of Millsboro, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, February 24, 2023.
Born in Wilmington, DE on August 8, 1953, he was a son of Ronald T. Hopkins, Sr. and the late Natalie (Sapp) Hopkins. Ron was part of the first graduating class of Delcastle Technical High School in 1972. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1973, serving on the U.S.S. Newport News as a Seaman Ship Specialist. Ron later worked as a branch manager for KCG in Salisbury, MD for over 25 dedicated years until his retirement. He also spent more than 15 years working in emergency communications for New Castle County.
A friend to the community, Ron was a life member of the Wilmington Manor Volunteer Fire Company, serving as Chief Engineer, Fire Captain, and Assistant Chief. He also served as a Little League baseball coach and was the Board Vice President. Ron developed a love for the outdoors at a young age, earning the Boy Scout-Achievement of Eagle Scout Troop 414 at 15 years old. As an adult he could always be found on the water, spending countless hours boating or fishing. Ron also joined the Indian River Yacht Club in 2007 and was an active member up until this year. In his spare time, he enjoyed cheering on his favorite sports teams, he especially loved baseball, and was an avid videographer.
Ron was preceded in death by his mother, Natalie Hopkins. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Patricia L. (Aversa) Hopkins; father, Ronald Hopkins, Sr.; children, Ronald Hopkins III (Karen), Thomas Kermode III (Carla), and Tracy Pawlikowski (TJ); 10 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 am until 10:30 am on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 10:30 am. Interment will be held privately.
