Roy E. “Gene” Morton
March 20, 1941 - April 28, 2025
Roy E. “Gene” Morton, age 84, of Bonita Springs, FL, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025.
Born in Rienzi, Mississippi on March 20, 1941, he was the son of the late Roy D. Morton and Dora Nell (Dilworth) Morton. He was a United States Army Veteran, 32nd Degree Mason and a retired truck driver from Exxon.
Gene was a graduate of William Penn High School in 1961 and spent most of his younger years living in New Castle, DE. He enjoyed traveling the country with family and friends, camping and visiting his parents in Tennessee. Once he retired, he traveled from Pineola, NC to Florida with his wife Marie in their fifth wheel camper. When Bonita Springs became his permanent home, he spent most of his days riding around Leisure Time Park in his golf cart. You could always find him and his buddy Don “policing” the park and making sure that everyone stayed out of trouble.
In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his brother, James Morton. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Marie (Cody) Morton; brother, Gerald (Ina); sister-in-law, Elaine; sons, Gene Morton (Amy), Wayne Morton (Joanne) and their mother, Cheryl (Wilson) Morton; stepchildren who he considered his own, Denise Bouchard (Dean), Coleen Fornito (Tony), Patrick Cody (Jerilyn) and Kevin Cody (Veronica); 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and extended family and friends.
Interment will be held privately in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
