Royce Nathaniel Wakefield

Royce Nathaniel Wakefield entered this world on January 18, 1945, in Lewisburg, Tennessee, son to the late Maggie Lee and Nathaniel Wakefield. He departed for eternal peace on May 5, 2024, at his Middletown, DE residence.
Royce, also lovingly known as “Pop”, earned his diploma in his hometown of Lewisburg, Tennessee. He dedicated 12 years to Delaware’s steel industry before committing another 17 years to Letica in Middletown, DE, where he retired at the well-deserved age of 62.
Royce was renowned for his exquisite taste in cars and clothes, and rest assured, his hair was always impeccably styled – fried, dyed, and laid to the side!
He had a passion for rap music, took pleasure in painting and gardening, relished his hunting adventures, and had a deep fondness for animals, especially his beloved pet, “Cujo”.
Royce was preceded in passing by his parents, his fourth son Aaron, and his dear daughter Darlene.
His legacy lives on through his beloved wife of 53 years, MaryEliza Wakefield, and their seven wonderful children. He is also survived by his sister, Vivian Wakefield of Louisville, Kentucky; his nieces, Carroll and Marilyn Davidson; his nephews, Thomas (and Angie) Davidson and Daryl Davidson; his sister-in-law, Alexina Saunders; his cherished grandchildren, Tosha, KC, DeCarlo Jr., Dominique, Tashay, and L.A.; along with 15 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. His lifelong friends Buck Waters and Joseph Archie of Middletown, DE, also hold his memory dear.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 11 am. Inurnment will be held privately.
