Sandra “Sandy” Sherman Malinowski
October 23, 1939 - April 13, 2021
Sandra “Sandy” Sherman Malinowski, age 81, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at home. Born on October 23, 1939 to Paul and Margaret (Tina) Sherman, she is survived by her loving husband, Robert J. Malinowski, Sr., with whom she shared 62 years of marriage. Also surviving are her four children, Andrea, Robert Jr. (Madonna), Beth (Dee), and Charles; seven grandchildren, Caitlin, Robert III, Julie, Alex, Sam, Casey, and John; two great-granddaughters, Eleanor and Noor (on the way); brother, James Sherman (Claire); many cousins, nieces and nephews; her beloved constant 4-legged companion, Ginny, and Ginny’s friend, Chance. Sandy loved unconditionally her family, children, animals, Delaware City, and flowers.
Sandy worked as a pediatric RN for many years at The Delaware Division of the Medical Center of Delaware (now Christiana Care); The Terry Center; and NCC Vo-Tech School District. She stayed in touch with her nurse friends and continued to have Beach Day with them every summer and a holiday gathering every winter.
Sandra was educated in Delaware schools and graduated from William Penn High School in 1957; received her LPN in the 70’s; she earned her Registered Nursing Degree from Delaware Tech in 1981, followed by a Psychiatric nurse certification.
Active in her church and in her community, Sandy sang in the choir for 25 years at Christ Episcopal Church and participated in organizing their annual yard sale. She was a long-time chairperson for Delaware City’s Tree Committee and lobbied hard to have playground equipment installed for the town’s children.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on from 10 am until 11:30 am on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at Christ Episcopal Church, 222 Clinton Street, Delaware City, DE. Face masks will be required for all in attendance. Service and interment will be held privately.
Flowers are welcomed in acknowledgement of Sandy’s love for them.

Bobby and Family, I was out of town all last week but I want you to know that I was shocked to hear about Sandy. We went to school, played sports, and were part of the Class of 1957. We always had a few laughs together over the years. My last name was Hutton. You are in my prayers and I hope everyone has good memories to fall back on at times when all of you are so sad.
