Sharon Jean Phillips - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Sharon Jean Phillips

June 25, 1947 - January 6, 2021

The sweetest soul this side of heaven has shed this vale of tears. On January 6, 2021, Sharon Jean Phillips left Christiana Hospital to join her Lord and Savior in Heaven.

Sharon was born June 25, 1947 in West Palm Beach, FL to Clifford E. and Dorothea E. (Giddings) Cole. Sharon’s dad was in the Navy, so she got to live many places, including Norfolk, VA, Bainbridge, MD, Cuba, Newport, RI, Key West, FL and, ultimately, Mayport, FL, where, at the young age of 15, she met and fell in love with Michael Phillips. They were married March 13, 1965, renewed their vows on March 13, 1990, and finally got to take the honeymoon they never had. Sharon’s dream was to become a mother and have a large family, which she ultimately did. Sharon was pre-deceased by her parents, her beloved sister, Sarah, and her precious little boy, Michael Bruce Phillips, Jr., who died at birth. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, her daughters, Michelle Scott (Bill), Kimberly Eveland (Mike), and Sherri Phillips; grandchildren Melody Green (Kyle), Brittany Chambers (Joe), Cody Parrish, Michael Eveland, Jr. and Connor Phillips; and great-grandchildren Jordyn, Kelsey, Layla, Mya, Mason, Adeline and Colton; sister Susi Cole Wertd; brothers Clifford Cole and Tim Cole; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.  She was also very close with her dear sister-in-law, Laura Sievert and her husband Al Sievert. Sharon dearly loved her family and was happiest when spending time with them. She loved her Lord with all her heart and enjoyed her close time with Him during her morning devotions. She was a faithful member of Fairwinds Baptist Church for 50 years, where she worked in the nursery for 37 years, much of that time as the department head. In later years, she worked in the Sunday School & Jr. Church, where she was affectionately known as “the snack lady”. She dearly loved all children and really enjoyed working with them.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at Fairwinds Baptist Church, 801 Seymour Road, Bear, DE, followed by the funeral service at 11 am. COVID-19 protocols will be followed by wearing masks and socially distancing. Interment will be held privately at Gracelawn Memorial Park for family members only.

  • Sharon will surely be missed by all. I have lots of memories working with Sharon in the kitchen at Fairwinds Christian School both during school and doing banquets. We had many laughs and fun watching the children and their antics while eating their lunched. Did not get to see her much in later yrs but was able to keep up with the family through Michelle’s Facebook page.

Mike & Girls keep all your memories close and hide them in your hearts and Sharon will always be with you.

    Love and Prayers

  • So sorry for the passing of such a sweet and gentle soul. Our loss is heaven’s gain. We will see her again. I will be with you in spirit on Tuesday. Love and prayers, now and always, Heather

  • Sharon was a beloved part of our family for 55 years. Because of distance we didnt get to see her nearly often enough, but the times we did, we bonded with her and loved her very much.

  • My family and I send condolences to our beloved cousin’s family. Sharon was always a very sweet and gentle person. My Mom (Aunt Leo) will always remember her and wishes you to know she sends her love and sympathy. We all have and treasure fond memories of birthday celebrations and my Dad’s (Uncle Raymond) BBQ get-togethers with Sharon and the rest of the family. Know you are all in our thoughts and prayers.

  • My sincere sympathy and prayers to the extended Phillips family. I know Sharon is in her glory with the Lord and no longer dealing with earthly troubles. She was a dedicated Christian and is enjoying her reward. I’ll be there in spirit but cannot attend because I have Covid-19 and Paul is in his final stages of life and cannot be left alone. God bless and comfort all of you as you continue your journey without Sharon. Love to all……

  • Mike,

I know she was the center of your world and I know that your faith in God will help you through this terrible time. Stay strong and know that we are thinking of you and your family old friend.
