Sherron Lee Guyer

November 10, 1939 - May 17, 2026

Sherron Lee Guyer, age 86, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, May 17, 2026.

Born in Lester, WV on November 10, 1939, she was a daughter of the late John Henry and Lola Merle (Hawley) Overbay. Sherron was a graduate of Conrad High School. Soon after, she met the love of her life, Larry, with whom she raised three beautiful children. Sherron started her career with Bell Telephone and later worked as a mortgage processor with several financial institutions.

Sherron was a longtime member of Mt. Salem United Methodist Church, where she served on the Board, many committees, and actively volunteered in the Tower Treasurers thrift shop. She was a “flower whisperer” who took great pride in her yard. Later in life, Sherron loved to travel, read, and enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles. She was an inspiration to many, very courageous, and never let adversity in life hold her back.

In addition to her parents, Sherron was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence J. Guyer, Sr.; siblings, Carolyn Pierce, John Overbay, Linda Naill, and Nancy Overbay; niece, Nancy Nutter; and nephew, John Overbay. She is survived by her children, Karen Guyer (Michael Ingram), Lawrence “Jay” Guyer (Terri Lynn), and Michael Guyer (Sandra); sister, Marylin Davis; and several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 12:30 pm. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sherron’s memory to Mt. Salem in Rockford Park United Methodist Church, 2629 West 19th Street, Wilmington, DE 19806 or online by clicking here.
