Sherry Lynn Cook, age 54, of Smyrna, DE passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 10, 2013.

Born in Wilmington, Delaware on March 31, 1959, Sherry was the daughter of James Francis Cook Jr. and Jacqueline F. Moore Cook.  She began her career as a baker at Dunkin Donuts and later worked for Arner’s Restaurant, before accepting a position with Shop Rite, where she was employed for over 15 years until her retirement.

In her leisure time, Sherry enjoyed trips to local casinos and was an avid reader.  She loved listening to Elvis and visiting the beach.  A kind-hearted and giving person, Sherry was a friend to many.


She was preceded in death by her father, James F. Cook, Jr.  Sherry is survived by her mother, Jacqueline; sisters, Karen  Rynkowski (Henry), Terry  Costanzo (Louis), and Renee Cook; brothers, James F. Cook, III, John  Cook, Randie  Cook, Ronald  Cook, and Michael  Cook; niece, Danielle Haas, with whom she lived; goddaughter, April Costanzo; 3 aunts; 2 uncles; 14 nieces and nephews; close friend, Allan McCall; and her beloved canine companion, Peanut the cockapoo.

Friends and family may call from 6 pm until 8 pm on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.  A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, October 18, 2013 at the funeral home.  Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810.

  • Sherry and I worked at Shop rite together. She was a very nice funny lady who loved her puppy dog. Sherry may you rest in peace.

  • Sherry was a wonderful person. She worked with my mom at Shoprite for a long time. We all had so many memories we shared from when I worked in the bakery with her. She was such a book worm! She lent me the whole Twilight series to read and she was right, the books were so much better than the movies! She will be missed by many in her Shoprite family.

  • Me and sherry worked together for 15 yrs. We shared so much together. I will miss her so much that I.can’t explain. Me and her new each other more then.anyone else.working in.the bakery without her will never be the same … I will miss sherrance rip 🙁

    I met Sherry in Shoprite as my daughter also worked in Bakery. She was very fond of Sherry and spoke highly of her and was always so very concerned for her, and deeply saddened by her loss.
