Sławomir “Sebastian” Jan Wawrzyniak
Sławomir “Sebastian” Jan Wawrzyniak, age 49, of Salem, NJ, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026. He was the son of Jadwiga (Krawczyk) Wawrzyniak and the late Jan Wawrzyniak; brother of Aneta Klepacka (Roman), Marta Schmidt (Robert); and twin brother of Jarosław Wawrzyniak (Małgorzata). He leaves behind his partner, Chris Hofacker; niece, Natalie; nephews, Rafał, RJ, Johnny, and Jacob; and many other friends and family.
At his core, Sebastian was deeply family oriented. Family gatherings were central to his life, and his home was always filled with laughter, conversation, and the comfort of a good, home-cooked meal. He loved cooking for those he cared about. He always made sure everyone who stepped foot in his home felt welcome, relaxed, and included. Whether it was a holiday meal or a casual get-together, being together meant everything to him.
Sebastian was a cherished member of our historic city and community. For many years, he opened his home on the Salem Yuletide Christmas Tour, bringing together friends, family, neighbors, and strangers. During these tours, he fostered a strong sense of connection, joy, and community pride.
Sebastian also treasured time spent traveling with his family. Vacations were moments he truly looked forward to, having time to slow down, make memories, and enjoy the company of the people he loved most.
Sebastian will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and the way he brought people together through shared meals, family celebrations, holiday traditions, and meaningful moments, both at home and away. His legacy lives on in the memories he created and the strong bonds of family and community he leaves behind.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at St. Margaret of Scotland Parish, 2431 Frazer Road, Newark, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am. Inurnment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
