Steven Andrew “Steve” Springer
August 22, 1961 - October 1, 2019
Steven Andrew Springer, age 58, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 1, 2019. He grew up in a loving home with his parents Harold and Elinor (Fox) Springer in the Faulkland Heights neighborhood as the middle child with two younger sisters (Karla and Patty) and two older sisters (Lark and Susan).
After graduating from Thomas McKean High School in 1979, he went on to work as a life-long maintenance mechanic and jack-of-all-trades, especially enjoying house painting and residential repair. Steve took on the role of primary caregiver to his elderly mother during her last years of life, allowing her to live at home with dignity until she passed.
Steve had a love of sports that began as a child spending many years on the field playing for the Capital Trail Little League. You could often spot him in his Ravens and Rams, as well as his Penguins and Red Wings sports gear. Steve was an avid 70’s and 80’s Rock music fan.
As Uncle Steve, he enjoyed spending time with his seven nephews, four nieces, eight great-nephews and nine great-nieces. There was always a special place in his heart for his three grandchildren Taylor, Emma and Thomas Jr.
Steve is survived by three sons, Steven Springer, Jr.; Jeremy Springer (Ashley); and Thomas “Nels” Springer (Sabrina).
A visitation will be held from 2 pm until 3 pm on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a memorial service will follow at 3 pm. Interment will be held privately.
