Susan Carlton, age 77, of Perryville, MD, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Chesapeake City, Maryland on August 12, 1948, she was a daughter of Walter Carlton and the late Nancy Carlton. Susan spent her later years residing by the water in Perryville, where she found joy in nature and the company of close friends and loved ones. A graduate of Christiana High School, Class of 1966, Susan began her career at DuPont shortly after graduation. She remained with the company until retirement. In retirement, she cherished time spent caring for her grandchildren and volunteering with Meals on Wheels, delivering food to local seniors.

Susan was known for her sweet and caring nature. A proud Marylander, she was an avid fan of the Ravens and Orioles. Her days were filled with birdwatching, watching boats from the beach by her home, reading, solving crossword puzzles, and spending time with friends and family.

In addition to her mother, Susan was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Honey. She is survived by her children, David Cullum (Stacey) and Emily Carlton; father, Walter Carlton; grandchildren, Kelley Read (Ricky), Nathan Cullum, and Jake Rosado; great-granddaughter, Emma Read; and sister, Joanne Carlton.

  • I am shocked to read of Sye’s passing. We met when we both worked fir DuPont at the Louviers bldg in Newark. We became great friends. We lost touch after I remarried, but found each other again in Facebook. Rest in peace Sue. You will be missed ♥️
