Susan Quinlan “Susie” Krayer Morrissey

March 16, 1944 - June 4, 2025

On Wednesday June 4th, 2025, with her children by her side, Susie Morrissey closed her eyes and passed on to her next journey. Her life, like her smile, was big and beautiful. While it pained her to leave so many she loved, she found peace knowing that she had lived a good life and raised two children who made her immensely proud.

Susan Quinlan “Susie” Krayer Morrissey was born to the late Budd G. Krayer and Katherine Quinlan Krayer in Mount Holly, NJ on March 16, 1944. Always quick to share memories of growing up in New Jersey, the happiest ones centered on spending time with her parents & sister, Mary Kay. Susie attended school nearby and graduated from Burlington High School in 1961. She continued her studies at Trenton State College in Ewing, NJ earning a degree in Education in 1965. After college, Susie began teaching business classes at Burlington Township High School. However, she was not long for the classroom as marriage and a family were in her plans.

Susie married her high school sweetheart Joe; had her son, Tim; moved to Delaware; and completed her family with the birth of her daughter, Megan. Nothing brought her more joy than raising her children and creating a warm & welcoming home. Much of her time was spent attending sporting events and dance recitals along with many weekend visits with family and best friends like the Heals and Shapiros. Her life was full as she was also busy as a member of the Folk Group (a singing group at church), spending time with her numerous friends, and taking care of the family dog and cats.

Once the kids were school aged, Susie began working again, starting at Our Lady of Fatima Church & School. Sometime later, she then moved on to new positions at Associated Builders & Contractors, Tire Sales & Service and Delaware Contractors Association. Then life suddenly changed due to a medical event, and retirement was thrust upon her in February 2000. It was now time to keep herself busy, and Susie did so by helping friends & family, volunteering at the hospital, assisting with Spirit Center activities, enjoying lunch & movie outings and visiting her sister in Florida. In her last years, Susie lived with Alzheimer’s disease but never lost her smile as she shared her time with her amazing helpers and weekly milkshake lunches with her friend of over 50 years, Sandy.

In addition to her parents, Susie was preceded in death, by her brother-in-law, Robert Tweedie; and the children’s father, Joseph Morrissey. She is survived by her children, Timothy Morrissey and Megan Morrissey, both of New Castle; her sister, Mary Kay Tweedie of Sarasota, FL; her sisters children, Adrienne Brown (Gene) and Lisa Holloway (Tim); her cat, Casey and many nieces, nephews and life-long cherished friends whom she loved with all her heart.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 am until 11 am on Friday, July 18, 2025 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a memorial service, in celebration of her life, will be held at 11 am. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faithful Friends Animal Society, 165 Airport Road, New Castle, DE 19720 from where she adopted her beloved Casey Cat.
