Sylvester “Bucky” Benson, Jr.

Sylvester “Bucky” Benson, Jr., age 70, of Newark, DE, departed this life on December 23, 2025 in the comfort of his home.
Born in Wilmington, DE on August 20, 1955, he was a son of the late Sylvester Benson, Sr. and Rosella M. Benson. Bucky received his education in the public school of Louis L. Redding and Middletown High School. After high school, he enlisted in the Army National Reserve for several years. Bucky worked various jobs including Rinker Materials in Middletown, DE and IMS in Atlanta, GA. In his spare time, he loved to ride motorcycles, cars, and play basketball.
In addition to his parents, Bucky was preceded in death by his brother, Edward L. Burks; and sisters, Carolyn Garcia, Teri Benson, and Angela Benson. He leaves to cherish his 5 children, Sylvester (Tabitha) and Turquoise Queen, Katrina Miller-Mitchell, Kiwana Wayman, and Rodney Watson; 2 brothers, David Benson, and Kenneth Burks; 2 sisters, Marie Lopez (Steve), and Donna Duker; 9 grandchildren; 1 devoted niece, Janice Burks; a host of nieces and nephews; devoted friends, Dorsey Watson, Malcolm Tiller, Sr., Lawence Pierce, and Joseph Stigars.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 am until 10:30 am on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Mt. Calvary Church, 300 New Street, Middletown, Delaware, where a funeral service will begin at 10:30 am. Interment will be held privately.
