Thomas A. Uncapher

Thomas A. Uncapher, age 86, of Newark, DE, passed away at home on Saturday, May 17, 2025, after a long illness.

Born in Sidney, Ohio on March 26, 1939, he was a son of the late Robert J. and Adrienne Midlam Uncapher. Tom was a graduate of Bowling Green State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Education. Following graduation, he dedicated most of his career to teaching handicapped children and later owned and operated Uncapher Home Repair. Tom moved to Delaware in 1974 where he later met and married his wife of 42 years, Gail Buckingham Uncapher.

Tom enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking and was fondly known as the Pop Pop who could fix anything. He enjoyed spending time with his large blended family up until his passing.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brothers, John Uncapher and William Uncapher; and his stepdaughter, Elisa Thorpe. Tom is survived by his wife, Gail; sister, Emily Glover (Tom); children, Carol Blau (Mike) and David Uncapher (Marion); stepchildren, Elaine Burris (Mike), Evelyn Capodanno, and Burton Schaen (Brenda); 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at a later date.
