Thomas Hoyt Williams

Thomas Hoyt Williams passed away peacefully at the age of 90 in his home in Newark, DE on March 9, 2026. He was born on September 30, 1935, the son of Raymond Williams and Leona Woodward Williams.

Tom graduated from Seaford High School in 1953 and then proudly served four years in the U.S. Air Force. Afterward he earned a B. S. in Agriculture and a Master of Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Delaware. He was a registered Professional Engineer (retired) and a lifetime member of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers.

Tom worked as a Cooperative Extension specialist in agricultural engineering at the University of Delaware for 28 years, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling, fishing and model railroading.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years Charlotte Ann (Pepper) Williams. He is survived by his daughter, Jane Williams Moore; granddaughter Pamela Hoyt Moore; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jack and Joyce (Pepper) Hildreth, one niece and five nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 am until 9:30 am on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 9:30 am. A committal service will follow in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

  • My sincere condolences to the family and friends. I only knew him as Mr Williams. I sat next to him in dialysis and we always said good morning to each other. Rest in peace Mr Williams.
