Thomas J. Fortune

Thomas J. Fortune, age 78, of Newark, DE, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022.
Born in Brooklyn, NY on June 1, 1943, he was a son of the late John and Catherine (Kennedy) Fortune. Thomas was a graduate of Newark High School in 1960. He was part of the first crew at the opening of the McDonald’s on Main Street. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1961 until 1964 and was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. Thomas worked as a supervisor at Crown Zellerbach for 10 years.
Thomas was an avid card player, who frequented Atlantic City. He loved to relax among the mid- Atlantic beaches, from the Jersey Shore to Myrtle Beach, SC.
In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his siblings, Paul Fortune, Mary Gadzouris, and Diane Schell. He is survived by his life partner, Kathleen M. Policastro; his brother in- law, Denny Schell, and several nieces and nephew.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at 11 am until 12 pm on Monday, June 6, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 pm. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.

I am sorry to hear about Tom’s passing. I truly enjoyed working with Tom many years ago. I knew then that I had made a lifelong friend. Tom was a wonderful man who leaves behind a tremendous woman.
