Velma Martin Wagner

Mrs. Velma Izola Shearon Martin Wagner, age 92, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2013.
Born in Pennsylvania on November 30, 1920, Mrs. Wagner was the daughter of the late Joseph W. Shearon and Orpha E. Colwell Shearon. She made her career with the DuPont Company, where she was employed in the film department at the Chestnut Run site for many years until her retirement.
A talented homemaker, she collected many cookbooks over the years and delighted in preparing wonderful meals for her family. She was devoted to animals throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Anthony Martin, in 1968, her second husband, Earl G. Wagner, in 1990, and by her siblings, Leo M. Shearon and Berdellea Shields. She is survived by her son, William J. Martin and his wife Judith of Bear; siblings, Joseph Shearon of Mullica Hill, NJ, Dorothy Sircy of Gallatin, TN, and Jane Benkiser of Litiz, PA; two grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
The family would like to thank the staff of Brandywine Nursing Home and the staff of Gardens at White Chapel for the excellent care and compassion she received over the last several years.
Funeral services will be held privately.
