Virginia A. Boettcher, age 84, of Fenwick Island, DE, and formerly of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, November 21, 2024.

Born in New Castle, DE on June 26, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Paul L. and Alice (Spence) Detwiler. Virginia worked as a secretary at DuPont Co., where in the earlier years of her career, she had the opportunity to represent the company at the World’s Fair in New York.

In her spare time, Virginia enjoyed line dancing, bowling, and playing cards. During the fall season, she and her husband, Forrest could often be found tailgating at University of Delaware football games. Virginia loved spending time at the family beach house in Fenwick Island. She was also a dedicated volunteer for many years at St. Stephen’s Luteran Church in Wilmington.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her loving husband, Forrest Allan Boettcher, Sr. She is survived by her brother, Robert Detwiler (Dianna); and nephews, Michael Detwiler (Erin), Jeffrey Detwiler (Nancy), and Timothy Detwiler (Lindsay).

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 pm on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 pm. Interment will be held privately in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
