Virginia “Jinnie” T. Blackburn

Virginia “Jinnie” T. Blackburn, age 88, of Smyrna, DE, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Dover Place Assisted Living.

Born in Newark, DE on May 5, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Edward Thomas and Mary L. Griffin. Virginia worked and retired after 25 plus years of service for Avon distribution center in Newark, DE. She enjoyed gardening, shopping and reading. Virginia will be most remembered as a hard worker and amazing provider, she loved and adored her family.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Harold R. Blackburn, Sr.; daughter, Vicki L. Goodwin; granddaughter, Summer Evick; and grandson, Christopher Goodwin. She is survived by her son, Harold Raymond Blackburn Jr. (Vicki); daughter, Terry Markman–Pazo (Bobby); brother, William Thomas (Connie); grandchildren, Melissa Shelton, Jessica Pazo, Leslie Pazo, and Daniel S. Blackburn; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The Blackburn family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Dover Place Assisted Living.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 E. Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
