Virginia Lee “Jenny” Prentice
Virginia Lee “Jenny” Prentice, age 85, of Wilmington, DE, passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, September 25, 2023, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Wilder, Virginia in 1938, she was the daughter of the late Dennie and Irene Hall. Virginia married Larry at a young age where together they built a lifetime (66 years) of cherished memories. They were avid travelers that loved visiting Cancun and going on cruises. She also enjoyed country music and line dancing. Virginia was a force to be reckoned with, stubborn, resilient and one of the strongest women around. She knew how to have a good time and lived her life to the fullest. Virginia loved throwing her Christmas Eve parties every year and loved her family fiercely. Above all else she will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and dear friend to many.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Larry; and her siblings, Jackie, Buddy and Peggy. She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly (Prentice) Kowalski and Jenifer (Prentice) Fioravanti (Jay); sister, Charlotte “Tiny” Shiflet; sister-in-law, Janice Dick; grandchildren, Jason (Mary), Michael, Alicia (Matt), Julio and Justin; great-grandsons, Mason, Anthony, Matthew and Christopher; plus two bonus great-grandsons, Matthew and Luke; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will begin at 9:30 am on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
