Virginia Mae “Ginny” (Koerner) Monjon

August 3, 1936 - February 14, 2021

Virginia Mae “Ginny” (Koerner) Monjon, a resident of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 14, 2021, at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Terry Monjon and her older brother, Donald Koerner.

Ginny was born on August 3, 1936 to the late Denver and Ruth (Piper) Koerner in Kankakee, IL. She graduated from Kankakee High School in 1954, and married her husband of 54 years on September 11, 1954. She moved to Newark with her husband and children in 1968 where she became a secretary at W.L. Gore and Associates in 1982. She enjoyed crocheting, shopping and decorating in her free time, and often made trips to Lancaster, PA and Colonial Williamsburg, VA when she was able. An unwavering pillar of her family, her husband, children and grandchildren never knew a day where they could not depend on her. She took every hardship in stride with humor that lightened the hearts of those around her, and she will be dearly missed by all those she touched in life.

She is survived by her two doting children, Steve (Carol) and Barbara, both of Newark; beloved grandchildren, Rebecca and Gregory Blessing of Newark and James Monjon of North Wales, PA; sister-in-law, Myrna (Monjon) Paulissen of Kankakee, IL and brother-in-law, Kenton Monjon of Elkhart, IN; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Delaware Hospice and to their neighbors, Gene and Dee Niland, for their dedicated support and kindness.

All services will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ginny’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 92 Read’s Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720 or Faithful Friends Animal Society, 12 Germay Drive, Wilmington, Delaware 19804.
