Walter D. Arrington, “Walt” called “Chubby” by his close relatives and friends, age 90, of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, January 24, 2023.

Born in Appomattox, VA on May 16, 1932, he was a son of the late Walker F. and Ann (Coffey) Arrington. Walt was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He spent 35 years working as an electrical supervisor for DuPont Co. until his retirement. Walt also taught night school students at Del Castle High School.

Walt enjoyed all sports especially fishing and skiing and took his family on many vacations, including trips to the Pocono mountains, the beaches in Florida, and the 17 years the family had a beach house down in Rehoboth Beach. Walt also took great pride in his home yard here in Middletown, DE where he meticulously maintained it throughout the year. Walt had a passion for sports, he never missed a game for any of the Philly teams, he also was a semi-professional boxer in his younger years. Above all, his most cherished moments were spent with his family.

In addition to his parents, Walt was preceded in death by his son, Robert D. Arrington. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Billie Lorraine (Dempsey) Arrington; children, Walter Lee Arrington and Michelle L. Marinelli; and granddaughter, Brianna M. Marinelli.

All services will be held privately.

  • My deepest sympathy to your family. He was loved by alot of people especially by his family he will be missed. I have alot of good memories some of them were in the Poconos and in Ormond Beach FL he was a great man I will miss him. Love to his family. Love Lisa
