Walter Merrill “Walt” Anderson, Jr.

Walter Merrill “Walt” Anderson, Jr., age 88, of Townsend, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.

Born in Altoona, PA on March 19, 1936, he was the son of the late Walter M. and Virginia (McGinnis) Anderson, Sr. He graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in Pennsylvania and went on to serve in the U.S. Army. Walt was employed as a stockchaser at General Motors, retiring after 32 years of service.

Walt loved antiquing in his spare time. An avid sport fan, he enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams, especially the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies and 76ers. He was also a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In addition to his parents, Walt was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty (Peters) Anderson; sister, Nancy; daughters, Debbie and Tammy Anderson; stepson, James Burget; and son-in-law, John Barczak. He is survived by his loving wife, Ginger (Zlock) Anderson; brother, John Anderson; sons, Kevin Anderson (Karen) and Walt Anderson III; stepdaughter, Patricia K. Barczak; stepson, Gary Kauffman (Marsha); daughter-in-law, Eileen Burget; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed and always loved with all of our hearts.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will be held privately in Gracelawn Memorial Park.
