William “Bill” White III CWO2 USMC and Pennsylvania-Conrail Railroad Engineer Retired
November 7, 1945 - May 28, 2019
William “Bill” White III went home to be with Our Lord on May 28, 2019.
Bill was born in Wilmington, DE on November 7, 1945. As a child he grew up in New Castle, DE. He was a man of faith which reflects 17 years of perfect attendance in church until he went into the Marine Corp, where he achieved and was honored to be the youngest CWO2 out of the Wilmington Marine Reserve Center. Bill attended DeLaWarr High School and graduated with the class of 1963, which he took second place in the State of Delaware for public speaking. In October 1965, Bill married his lifelong sweetheart Georgianna and they went on to raise three beautiful children Billy, Tammy & Tina.
Bill loved history and all the Lords beauty, therefore he always instilled strong family values and enjoyed site seeing. In 1990 Bill welcomed his first grandchild and from there the White family expanded to seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. The grandchildren have fond memories of their “Pop” which include museums, day trips, the railroad and especially the rides in the limo to New York City. Bill always made friends wherever he went. He could make a stranger smile with his jokes and his huge heart. Bill would give the shirt off his back for anyone in need.
Pop went to be with our Lord and the predeceased, father, William R White JR.; mother, Elizabeth Mae Hoon; mother, Rose White; brother, Harry White; sister, Cindy Hoon; and niece, Christy White. He is survived by wife and best friend of 53 years, Georgianna; son, William IV (Donna); daughters, Tammy (Kenneth), Tina, Debbie (Trala/Breen), Jennifer (Latch/White); grandchildren, Samantha, William V (Lisa), Katrina (Zach), Anthony (Arianna), Kenneth Jr, Tanner and Chase; great granddaughter, Piper RaeLynne; brothers, Bobby Hoon, Ralph White; sister, Susan White; and cousin, Bob White. A man with fewest words, but the most wisdom will forever be missed by all the hearts that he has touched.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Monday, June 3, 2019, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. A funeral service will begin at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
In remembrance of William Ralph White III, his family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior project by phone at 1-(877)832-6997 or by webpage at www.woundedwarriorproject.org

I didn’t know Bill well. He was two years ahead of me at DeLaWarr High School but he was my big brother Grady’s best friend. And he loved him dearly. I like to imagine the two of the reunited in Heaven talking about the old days at DeLaWarr and a life of loving and serving the Lord. I send my condolences and love to Georgianna and his family. May God continue to bless you and hold you in the palm of His hand during this time of grief.

Condolences to the White family, I had the privilege to meet Mr. White a few times over the past couple years and I enjoyed our conversations about the Marine Corps and the importance of the Brotherhood! It was obvious that the man was in pain but always had a smile on his face and loved to talk about his wonderful family. Semper Fi
