William Carl “Bill” “Dida” Stump

William Carl “Bill” “Dida” Stump, age 84, of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.

Born in Uniontown, PA on December 9, 1938, he was a son of the late George and Dorothy Stump. Bill married JoAnn Monica Lasko on November 30, 1957 in Cumberland, MD and settled in Newark, DE, where he and JoAnn raised their family. He worked for and retired from the Chrysler Corporation.

Bill had many passions including golf, cards, billiards, Bocci Ball and was an all-around sports enthusiast and fan – Go Blue Hens! While he was a huge Philadelphia sports team fan, he always had a soft spot in his heart for anything Pittsburgh. Bill touched many lives as a coach of baseball and football in the Newark American Little League, Newark Babe Ruth, and Capital Trail Football organizations. Bill was first and foremost a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, George; and grandson, Jason. Bill is survived by his wife, JoAnn; brother, Jim of Tazwell, VA; children, Bill (Cheryl) of Newark, DE, Jeff (Hollie) of Charlotte, NC, and Patti (Lee) of Ocean City, MD; grandchildren, Bryan of Delray Beach, FL, Cami (Wright) of Charlotte, NC, Brandon of Newark, DE and Jeffrey (Jennifer) of Concord, NC; and great-granddaughter, Lily of Newark, DE.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at St. Joseph Parish, 319 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am. A private family burial will be at All Saints Cemetery.
