William Edward Yonker

Mr. William Edward Yonker, age 59, of Townsend, DE, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 3, 2012.
Bill was born in Philadelphia, PA, on May 2, 1952, son of the late William J. Yonker and Doris Liebert Yonker. He graduated from Riverside High School, attended Virginia Tech for two years, and earned his bachelor’s degree from Widener University. He was employed with ASTM International for 30 years, retiring in July of last year as the Director of Information Technology.
He was an avid golfer, a boater, and more recently developed a love of Harley Davidson motorcycles, the Philadelphia Phillies, and the DuPont Theatre in Wilmington.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Melissa Pierce Yonker; son, George Murphy and his wife, Brittnye Hurt Murphy; daughter, Brynn Murphy; grandson, Kayden Murphy; and sister, Diane Yonker Townsend and her husband, Gene, and their children. He will be sadly missed by his family and his many good friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am to 1 pm on Friday, April 6, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. Interment will be held privately.
