William F. “Bill” Haug

William F. “Bill” Haug, age 86, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, December 29, 2022.

Born in Wilmington, DE on September 15, 1936, he was a son of the late John and Elizabeth (Hickey) Haug. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army during peace time and was retired from General Motors after many dedicated years.

Active in his faith and community, Bill was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Weston Senior Center and New Castle Moose Lodge. After his retirement, he enjoyed helping his wife Joan with her in home daycare, until her retirement. He loved to travel and tend to his garden. Bill was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Joan D. (Novak) Haug; son, Jeffrey Haug; siblings, Medford Haug, Joseph Haug, and Louise McGuian; and granddaughter, Jaelynn Haug. He is survived by his loving children, Robert Haug (Nyla), David Haug, Carolyn Young, and Diane Crespo (Luis); 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Marguerite Novak; sisters-in-law, Barbara Seeney and Lera Novak; and many nieces and nephews.

A committal service for family and friends will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, Delaware.
