William J. “Bill” Burke III

William J. “Bill” Burke III, age 70, of Bear, DE, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024.
Born in Wilmington, DE, on February 24, 1954, he was a son of the late William J. and Marie (Fogwell) Burke, Jr. Bill was a graduate of Bishop Egan Catholic High School in Fairless Hills, PA, and earned his degree from Drexel University. He made his career as a network architect in the information technology industry.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife, Liliane Maria Louisa Josepha Pelckmans Moortgat-Burke; his sister, Marie F. Burke; and his foster sister, Tina Lamborn Hesser. He is survived by his son, William Johan Burke IV; his sisters, Hannah Burke Mauss and her husband Paul, Nora Burke Pentiata, and Mary Burke Walters and her husband Ron; his foster parents, Robert and Elsie Lamborn; and his foster sister, Christine Lamborn Wasylyszyn and her husband Steve.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 11 am. Inurnment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.

I’m so sorry to learn of Bill’s passing. He was a good friend to me throughout the years. I will miss him very much, I have very fond memories from taekwondo with him and Johan. My very sincere condolences to all who knew and loved him.

Bill was the first friend I made in high school. We spent a lot of time together at each other’s homes in those years and were able to stay in touch in the years that have passed since then. He meant a lot to me and I will miss him. My condolences to Johan and the rest of his family.
