William J. “Bill” McGeehan, Jr.

William J. “Bill” McGeehan, Jr., age 76, of Newark, DE, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025.

Born in Wilmington, DE, on October 26, 1948, he was a son of the late William F. and Rae (Rollins) McGeehan, Sr. Bill was a graduate of Salesianum School. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Bill made his career as a mechanic at DuPont Co.

Bill enjoyed baseball/softball, hunting and crossword puzzles. He was an avid animal lover and found solace in volunteering/donating to various humanitarian efforts. A devoted Eagles fan. Bill demonstrated kindness, generosity, strength and unconditional love. He turned ordinary moments into extraordinary memories. He was patient, unwavering in his support and guidance for his children and grandchildren. We are honored to have known him, proud to be his family, and deeply thankful for having him touch our lives.

We will carry his memory in our hearts forever, grateful for the time we had with him and the profound impact he had on all of our lives.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Alan McGeehan. He is survived by his children, William J. McGeehan III (Robin Sartin) and Andrea L. Maggio; former wife, Sandra L. McGeehan; and grandchildren, Tori, Hailey, Cheyenne, and Aryanna McGeehan, and MJ Maggio.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 noon on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Holy Family R.C. Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE. A committal service will follow in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
