Yolanda (Saturno) Robles Velasco

October 25, 1949 - July 13, 2024

Yolanda (Saturno) Robles Velasco, age 74, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024.

Born in the Philippines on October 25, 1949, she was the daughter of late Catalino Oliva Robles, Sr. and Alicia Manotoc Saturno. She was known to her family as “Baby” or “Bebe”, and to friends as “Yolly”.

Yolanda received her Bachelor’s degree from Arellano University and started work as a high school math teacher in the Philippines. She moved with her family to Saudi Arabia for 4 years, and finally settled in Delaware, USA.

Yolanda and her husband, Bayani, loved to travel locally and internationally. Since retiring, they had been “snowbirds” and spent half of each year in the Philippines to spend time with other family members and friends. July 15th would have been their 46th wedding anniversary.

Yolanda was very handy as she enjoyed sewing and making her own clothes, pillowcases, curtains and more. She did carpentry to fix and make projects. She was a great cook and people always loved her Chicken Adobo. She also loved tending her garden, in which she’d share any extra vegetables with family, friends and neighbors.

In addition to her parents, Yolanda was preceded in death by siblings in the Philippines, Clobel R. Sobrepeña, Alice R. Pile, Alex S. Robles, Ronnie S. Robles and Catalino S. Robles, Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Bayani R. Velasco; children in DE, NJ, and the Philippines, Jose Bayani M. Velasco (late wife, Mercy), Jose Victorio M. Velasco (Mildred), Maria Luisa M. Velasco, Maria Lynda R. Velasco, Jose Carlos R. Velasco, Jose Edward R. Velasco and Jose David R. Velasco (Farida); granddaughters, Luilyn R. Velasco, Czarina Evangelio (Ian), Kaethe Velasco and Klouie Velasco; siblings in the Philippines, Darley S. Robles (Corazon), Joselito S. Robles (Annie), Ruby R. Algire (late husband, Cenon), and Ronald T. Saturno (Esmer); and her many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 pm on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 12 pm. Interment will be held privately.
